PEI's key properties that make it popular for 3D printing include high heat resistance, excellent adhesion to various materials, and chemical resistance. A PEI-coated sheet helps ensure proper first-layer adhesion, promotes even layer bonding, and improves overall print quality.

The PET side has somewhat lower adhesion than PEI due to its smooth surface, but it leaves a textured carbon-fiber or diamond-pattern finish on the model (depending on the printer), giving impressively professional-looking first layers.

Recommendations:

Note: set your Z-offset correctly to avoid scratching the sheet while still getting solid first-layer adhesion. This affects the surface texture of the first layer, which may not be desirable for certain models.
